Description

The star of the 2013 Hamilton Airshow the only airworthy de Havilland Mosquito in the world KA114! Restored in New Zealand and finished in late 2012, KA114 is now in North America and is owned by the Military Aviation Museum out of Virginia Beach, USA. This was KA114's second North American air show and first appearance in Canada. This aircraft drew people in from all over the world for the airshow. The main draw was to see it fly with the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Lancaster.

Beautiful shot of a wonderful aircraft. As somebody who was born and lives just 10 or so miles from Salisbury Hall where the Mosquito was designed, built and first flown. The Mosquito is really special to me. I was lucky enough to see the UK based Mossie fly a few times before her unfortunate and tragic crash in 1996. But I would love to see this one, I guess a trip across the pond is in order at some point. Of course this will have to be after we know if and where she will be sold to.

Something you maybe interested in is that Salisbury Hall is now a museum dedicated to de Havilland and the Mosquito. That very first prototype is very much still there and so are a few other exmples of the mossie. [link] [link] [link]
