Description

This is the Revell 1/144 scale C-17A Globemaster III kit which I just recently finished after a couple months of working on and off. Overall the kit was quite good and a relatively new mold. However the kit did have it's flaws as most do, there were some fit issues on the underside of the fuselage which left a fairly large gap which had to be filled minor filling elsewhere and the wings were warped, but I was able to fix them. Its nice having kit reviews online so none of these issues were a real surprise to me. I did read that some people got in touch with Revell about the wings and received new wings in the mail free of charge. As for the painting I painted it with Humbrol enamels the overall grey is #156. Those of you who have been following this build will probably notice that I painted over some of the chrome silver on the cowlings. After looking at pictures online I realized I had the ring way too thick. The decals I ordered online from CanMilAir who supplies decals for pretty much any RCAF military aircraft and notable Canadian civilian aircraft. This was the first build where I tried using Microscale's Micro Set and Micro Sol, using those too products made such a difference in how the decals set and conformed to the contours of the CC-177. I was very impressed! The decals look like they were painted on!

CC-177 is the Canadian designation for the C-17 Globemaster III. The CC-177 entered service with the RCAF in 2007 filling the role of Strategic Airlifter. The RCAF has 4 CC-177's based out of 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario with 429 Transport Squadron 'Bisons'. There is no denying that the CC-177 is an essential aircraft, it has been deployed on various combat and humanitarian missions during it's 7 years of service.

Really cool - I like the Canadian scheme better than the US one!

I just saw one of these landing at the airbase where I'm working now; they look really cool!
