Description
This is the "Robert Hampton Grey Corsair" owned by Vintage Wings of Canada, just after take off at the 2013 Hamilton Air Show, with the landing gear starting to retract into the wings.
Robert Hampton Grey was a Canadian naval officer, pilot, and recipient of the Victoria Cross during World War II. Lieutenant Gray led an attack on a group of Japanese naval vessels, sinking the Etorofu class, escort ship Amakusa before his plane crashed into the bay for that mission he was awarded the Victoria Cross.
This Corsair is paint in the markings of the aircraft he was most likely flying when he lead that attack and unfortunately died shortly after when he crashed into the bay.

The Royal Navy in the Pacific War is rather unknown.
